The Survival Float Sequence

50 % of our first time joiners are non swimmers.  With them we start in shallow water and practice the survival float sequence.

There are 6 exercises we will cover in the survival float sequence. It's good to try memorizing them because once your in the water you won't be able to look up the sequence.

  1. The survival float
  2. Splashing
  3. Full turn / 360
  4. Gliding (I'm a rocket) and the rudimentary back stroke.
  5. Gliding, breast stroke

6. Frog kick

After those exercises, you can attempt the 200-meter swim. Most non swimmers do this mostly on their back with the rudimentary back stroke, alternated with breast strokes when they are close to their turning points and wishing to have good vision. After completing the 200 meter swim the member has to request the FCOA SWIMMER 200 certificate. Once approved this will get emailed. And also it will get added to the record of the coach.

STUDY TIPS

THE 10 LESSONS

The best way to progress through the lessons is to first watch the video lesson, then read the text and  then make the quizzes.

All FCOA participants should register fully on FCOA.online  to makes sure that liability release and the statement of understanding are agreed with. Once you are fully signed up your an FCOA member. As an FCOA member you can:

1. keep track of the lessons you have followed, and you can request for certificates of attendance after your lessons.

2. You can keep verified records of your personal best performances.

3. You can keep records of your spiro meter information

We encourage members to watch the FCOA video lessons and to complete the relevant quiz before their upcoming dive.
